A podcast by Olivia Reid
A space for the conversations we keep almost having. About faith, healing, and what it actually takes to be human.
Most of us were never taught how to be human. We were taught how to keep going. This is a space to slow down and find out what's actually there.
Living in survival mode long enough teaches you it isn't living. This is where it started — a decision to be intentional instead.
The strength you clung to was burning you out. What it takes to actually come back to yourself.
On the grief nobody names — for who you thought you were, for the dreams that didn't come.
Continuing the conversation on loss, and what it looks like to feel it, name it, and find your way through.
On what happens when the people inside the faith wound you — and how you separate that from God.
How trauma impacts trust, faith, and the nervous system — and why safety has to come before trust.
Continuing the conversation on trauma, trust, and why you can't rush the nervous system.
What actually landed — and what it means to do this work out loud, with your person beside you.

I'm Olivia Reid. I live with complex PTSD and OCPD. I spent years keeping it together so well that I didn't notice I was barely there at all.
I started True Adagio because I kept having conversations I couldn't finish. This is where I finish them.
Grief is not a problem to solve. The nervous system is not a spiritual failure. Healing is slow and that's not a character flaw.
We believe faith and psychology belong in the same room, and that you already know more than you've been given language for.
True Adagio is a podcast about faith and the parts of life we rarely say out loud. Season 2 is a collection of honest conversations about grief, mental health, identity, church hurt, and what it looks like to keep going when the road has been long.
No newsletter. No content strategy. Just a message when there's something real to say.

Ep. 02
The Body Keeps the Score, and So Does the Spirit
Trauma does not stay in the past. It shapes the way we think, feel, relate to others, and move through the world. A conversation about how trauma lives in the body, influences our nervous system, and impacts the stories we tell ourselves about who we are.
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Psalm 139:14
Ep. 03
Who Am I When My Diagnosis Feels Louder?
When the DSM seems to know you better than scripture does. A conversation about identity in Christ when a diagnosis shapes the way you move through every room, every relationship, every single day.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
2 Corinthians 5:17
Ep. 08
Generational Trauma and the Path to Restoration
Mother wounds, father wounds, nervous system patterns, family roles, and the work of breaking cycles. What it takes to stop inheriting what was never yours to carry, and what restoration actually looks like in practice.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you."
Ezekiel 36:26

Ep. 04
Surrendering Control When Your Brain Won't Let You
What surrender actually means when anxiety or OCD is in the room. The difference between real trust and just complying, and why God is not asking for a performance of peace.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Philippians 4:6
Ep. 07 · with Beverly
What Do I Do With Church Hurt?
A thoughtful conversation about spiritual disappointment, broken trust, unhealthy church experiences, and finding a path forward without minimising the pain. Not an indictment. An invitation to be honest.
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."
Psalm 147:3

When Prayer Does Not Feel Like Enough
What it looks like to pray and go to therapy at the same time, and why that is not a contradiction, a failure of faith, or a sign that God is not answering. The one nobody says out loud.
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans."
Romans 8:26
Ep. 09 · with Krissy
Learning to Receive Love
Why some of us can serve everyone but struggle to receive care ourselves. A conversation about hyper-independence, attachment, vulnerability, and what it means to let yourself be loved by people and by God.

Longsuffering in Christ
What does it look like to keep going when the season is long, the prayer feels unanswered, and the waiting is taking more out of you than you expected? A conversation about perseverance, about the fruit of the Spirit that nobody puts on a mug, and about what God meets us with in the middle of a long road.
"We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

Grief: When What You Hoped For Does Not Come
Some losses do not have funerals. We grieve the end of a relationship we thought would last, the dream that did not work out, the version of life we planned for. A conversation about the quiet, unacknowledged kind of grief and what it looks like to feel it, name it, and find your way through.
